Day 59

Almost two months in. The second floor has been started. Before they can really get into the second floor the back deck needs to get up since it helps support the second floor.

Here's what you'll see as you drive up the driveway. It doesn't look nearly as big from the front.
The holes for the deck posts that will help support the second floor.

Some fall colors still remain.

The garage floor is all set to be poured. Now we just need the weather to allow that to happen.

Side view. You can see some of the floor joists for the second floor if you look closely.

Another good week

Another week down. The main level is now framed in. Next week they'll start going up to the second floor. I've also tried adding a couple videos.

Halloween has come early in the Wiers house.
The main level is completely framed in. This view is from the great room looking across towards the dining room.A view of where the front door will be. The blocks for the garage are now being stacked on the right hand side of the picture. Hopefully the garage floor will be poured next week.

Looking up from the walkout side. It's crazy to think that we're still going up one more level.

More Progress

After a weekend of some nasty weather things cleared up a bit, so Monday saw another day of good progress. Nearly half of the perimeter of the main floor is now framed in. Things are definitely beginning to take shape.

A look at Addy's favorite place, the hill leading down to the backyard. Who new that running up and down a hill could be so fun. From the backyard looking up you can see the progress on the main level.

Daddy and Addy scoping out the progress.

The garage floor will hopefully be laid soon. The trench is for the garage footings. You can see that the front wall of the house is pretty much in place.

Moving on up

Before we get to the updated house pictures let's get to the important stuff. Yesterday morning we received a referral for a beautiful 10 month old girl. She appears to be a very healthy young girl and we can not wait to get her home. She has been described as fast, strong, and energetic, so hopefully she'll be able to hold her own with Addy. Now the race is on to see what happens first-the house gets finished or we bring home our little girl.

The walkout viewed from the backyard
Addy playing in the leaf filled basement. The one interior wall you see will be one end of the staircase.

The foam has been waterproofed and should be covered up with dirt/sand soon.

Up at the front of the house you can see we're nearly ready to start going up another level.

Framing has begun

We anticipated great things this week. With great weather a lot of work has been accomplished. The mason wasn't able to get a load of concrete until Tuesday and it took a little longer for the concrete to dry than expected, but it was still a very productive week.

This is taken Wednesday a day after the floor was poured. Not much framing was done waiting for the concrete to dry.

Thursday we arrived to this sight. Not bad, huh?
Addy, peaking through Oma and Papa's bedroom window. The room is going to be smaller than we anticipated to allow more room for the mechanical room in the back corner.

More progress on Friday. They're hoping to start laying the floor joists for the main floor on Monday. As you can see the leaves have started to fall. Hopefully, we'll have a roof before snow starts to fall!

Great weather this week -- expecting great things!

The basement floor should be poured tomorrow. We can start to visualize our backyard. Things are coming along. The weather forecast is good this week. They should start framing in on Wednesday. Still no word on our referral.....

The ground floor is ready for the concrete to be poured.

In the background on the right you can see the plumbing for the basement.

The framing in of the south side wall (open area) will begin this week.
